Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 30, 2026

1. Who we are

This policy is issued by UtilitiesOne Contractor's Opportunities, the recruitment operation run on this Site. It explains how we handle personal information submitted through u1hirenow.com and, where a candidate reaches us through an advertisement, through the advertisement's own lead form.

2. Scope of this policy

This policy covers u1hirenow.com: the recruitment application form, advertising landing pages that lead to it, the personal Application Link sent by email, and candidate communications sent from this recruitment program. It does not cover Utilities One's other websites, customers, or services.

3. Information you provide

When you apply, or when an advertisement's lead form is submitted on your behalf, we collect:

  • Contact and address details: first and last name, email address, phone number, street address, city, state, and ZIP code.
  • Three uploaded documents: a photo of you, an image of your driver's license, and an image of your Social Security card or document.
  • Where collected by an advertisement's lead form: preferred work zone, vehicle availability, a yes/no answer about a criminal record, willingness to take a drug test, and your preferred language.
  • Your explicit consent to submit your application and documents (recorded with a timestamp).

4. Information collected automatically

To operate and secure the Site, we automatically record:

  • Technical and security signals: your IP address (used for rate limiting and abuse prevention) and a bot-protection check result (Cloudflare Turnstile).
  • Application status and timestamps: when your application was started, updated, and submitted.
  • If you arrived through a marketing link: the campaign information in that link (see 'Website traffic from paid advertising' below) — never your browsing history on other sites.

5. How we use your information

We use the information above to: review your application; contact you about the position; verify your qualification for the role; move you through our hiring process; send you confirmation, follow-up, and Application Link messages; and meet our own legal and record-keeping obligations.

We do not use candidate information for advertising to you, we do not sell it, and we do not use it for anything unrelated to this recruitment program.

6. Candidate communications

We may email you to confirm we received your submission, to send you a personal Application Link so you can finish an application started elsewhere (for example, from an advertisement), or to confirm a completed submission. These emails never contain your documents, your Social Security number, or a link to anyone else's application.

7. Uploaded documents

Your driver's license and Social Security document are sensitive. We request them only to evaluate and process your application and for onboarding if you are engaged. They are stored in a private, access-restricted storage area — never in a public link, in analytics, or in an advertising tool.

Our hiring team accesses documents either through short-lived, signed links (which expire and stop working on their own) or, if we have configured direct delivery, as attachments to the internal hiring notification. Either way, only the hiring team sees them.

8. Meta Lead Ads (Facebook / Instagram)

If you respond to a Facebook or Instagram advertisement using its built-in lead form ('Instant Form'), Meta collects your answers on its platform and, with your consent given to Meta at that time, shares them with us through Meta's Lead Ads system so we can follow up. Meta's own privacy policy governs how it handles that submission on its platform.

We then create your candidate record from that submission and, if you continue, send you a personal Application Link to finish your application on this Site.

9. Website traffic from paid advertising

When a candidate reaches this Site by clicking a tagged advertising or community-post link (a link carrying campaign parameters), we record which campaign, platform, and placement it came from, alongside the application it leads to. This is used only to understand which recruiting channels bring in candidates — never combined with browsing activity on other websites.

10. Cookies we use

The Site uses a small number of first-party cookies, none of which are sold or shared with data brokers. It also stores your light/dark display preference in your browser's local storage (not a cookie) — that preference never leaves your device and is not read by us.

  • u1_ctx — strictly necessary. Keeps your in-progress application linked to your browser while you complete the two-step form. Expires after 24 hours; contains no readable personal data, only a security token.
  • u1_locale — functional. Remembers your chosen language (English, Spanish, or Russian) for up to one year.
  • u1_attribution — marketing/acquisition. Described in the next section.

11. Attribution cookie (marketing/acquisition tracking)

If you land on this Site through a tagged advertising or community-post link, we set a first-party cookie (u1_attribution) that records which campaign, platform, and placement brought you here, so it can be credited on the application you eventually submit. It is written once (the first link you followed is kept, later visits do not overwrite it), lasts 30 days, and contains only campaign-style labels — never your name, contact details, or documents.

This cookie is separate from u1_ctx and from the Meta Pixel described next; it exists only because the Site itself reads the marketing link, not because a third party is tracking you across other sites.

12. Meta Pixel

This Site may load the Meta Pixel, a script provided by Meta (Facebook/Instagram), to help us understand how effective our recruitment advertising is — for example, whether someone who saw an ad went on to visit this Site. The Pixel is operated by Meta as a separate data controller for that purpose, and Meta's own privacy policy and data practices govern the data it collects through the Pixel. We do not pass your application answers or documents to the Pixel.

13. Service providers

We use the following providers to run this recruitment program; each may process your information only to provide its service to us:

  • Vercel — hosting the website.
  • Supabase — the application database and private document storage.
  • Resend — sending candidate and internal hiring emails.
  • Cloudflare (Turnstile) — bot and spam protection on the application form.
  • Meta — the advertising platform, for candidates who respond to a Facebook/Instagram lead form or advertisement, and for the Meta Pixel described above.

14. Where your information is stored

Your application data and documents are stored in Supabase's managed infrastructure, transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections, and are not publicly accessible — every document access is either individually signed and time-limited, or delivered directly to the hiring team.

15. Data security

We use access controls that restrict who can read application data, private (non-public) storage for documents, encrypted transmission, rate limiting and a bot-protection check to reduce abuse, and signed, time-limited links rather than permanent public document URLs. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we do not take shortcuts with candidate documents.

16. Data retention

We keep your application information for as long as we are actively considering it, and for a further reasonable period afterward in case a similar role opens or as needed to meet our own record-keeping obligations. UtilitiesOne Contractor's Opportunities has not yet set an exact retention schedule for this program; a specific period is a business/legal decision pending confirmation (see 'Owner/legal review' — until it is set, you may ask us to delete your information sooner, as described below).

17. International data transfers

Our hosting and processing infrastructure is located in the United States. If you are submitting an application from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.

18. Your rights under GDPR

Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies to your information, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to request erasure, to restrict or object to certain processing, to data portability, and — where we rely on your consent — to withdraw it at any time without affecting processing already carried out. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in 'Contact us' below; we aim to respond within one month.

19. Your rights under CCPA/CPRA

If you are a California resident, applicable California law may give you the right to know what personal information we have collected about you and why, to request its deletion, to request correction of inaccurate information, and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights.

20. California-specific disclosures

In the preceding 12 months we have collected the categories of personal information described in 'Information you provide' and 'Information collected automatically' above, for the recruitment purposes described in 'How we use your information.' We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we have not done so in the preceding 12 months.

21. No sale of personal information

We do not sell candidate personal information to third parties, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. The service providers listed above process it only to help us run this recruitment program.

22. Children's privacy

This Site is a recruitment site for an adult contractor role and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals who are not of legal working age; applicants must be of legal working age to apply.

23. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our practices change. The 'Last updated' date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision; material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.

24. Contact us
